A resolution calling for expedited legal action against political parties that violate the law has been submitted to the People’s Majlis by the ruling People’s National Congress (PNC). The resolution was introduced during today’s parliamentary session by the PNC Member for the Holhudhoo constituency, Abdul Sattar Mohamed.

While presenting the resolution, the Member noted that the Constitution grants every citizen the freedom of thought, expression, and the right to form and participate in political parties. However, he emphasized that these rights must be exercised in accordance with the tenets of Islam, while respecting the reputation and rights of others and prioritizing the national interest.

The Member further stated that unlawful activities carried out by some political parties are causing difficulties for citizens and disrupting public peace and order. He explained that the resolution was submitted to gauge the views of parliamentary members on curbing such actions and to urge state institutions to expedite investigations and legal measures against those involved in such conduct.
