Aminath Shirna, a veteran in the healthcare sector, has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) today. Her appointment fills the vacancy left by Heena Waleed, the agency's initial CEO under this administration, who was moved to the Cabinet as the Minister of Arts, Culture, and Heritage following changes made by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Heena Waleed took her oath of office as a minister on April 14, leaving the top position at NSPA vacant since that date. Shirna brings extensive administrative experience to the role, having previously held leadership responsibilities at the Health Protection Agency (HPA), Dhamana Veshi, and the National Blood Bank.

Before taking over as CEO of NSPA, Shirna served as a State Minister at the Ministry of Health. She has a distinguished professional background, having worked as a nurse for over 20 years, and holds two master's degrees in the health field.
