Severe weather, including lightning strikes, has been reported in Hulhumalé as heavy rain and thunderstorms affect parts of the country.
The Greater Malé Region has been experiencing intense rainfall, with Hulhumalé among the hardest hit areas. Thunderstorms have caused disruptions, leading to electricity and water outages in some locations in Hulhumalé.
The Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a yellow alert for islands from K. Atoll to Laamu Atoll, warning of heavy rain and thunderstorms from 12 p.m. to 5 a.m.
A white alert is also in effect for areas from Lhaviyani Atoll to Addu City, with forecasts of torrential rain and strong winds reaching up to 40 miles per hour.
Authorities advise the public to remain cautious as adverse weather conditions continue.
