A 39-year-old man was injured in an attack involving a sharp object during a suspected dispute over drug deals in Addu City, police said.

The incident was reported to authorities at around 13:50hrs on Tuesday after the victim was brought to Hulhumeedhoo Health Center. Police believe the attack occurred inside a house during the dispute.

The victim is currently receiving treatment at Addu Equatorial Hospital. A 44-year-old Maldivian man has been taken into custody in connection with the case.

Police are continuing their investigation.
