President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that the "Integrated National Public Ferry Network" project, designed to connect the Maldives through a high-speed ferry network, will expand to all atolls by August at the latest.
The Raajje Transport Link (RTL) ferry service is currently managed by MTCC and is organized into six distinct zones across the country.
During a press conference at the President's Office today, the President highlighted the importance of the RTL service, noting that only four atolls currently remain without the service.
"Based on current progress, and assuming no further hiccups, we expect to cover all remaining atolls within the next 3 to 4 months—by July or August at the latest," the President stated. The President also mentioned that efforts are underway to acquire spare vessels for the atolls where RTL services are already operational to ensure reliability.
MTCC utilizes specialized ferries with a seating capacity of 48 passengers to provide this high-speed transport service.
