Bullying to be CriminalizedPresident Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that an "Anti-Bullying Bill" will soon be submitted to Parliament to officially establish bullying as a legal offense.
During a press conference held at the President's Office today, President Muizzu stated that while bullying is already considered a legal offense, the Attorney General’s Office (AG Office) is currently working on drafting a specific Anti-Bullying Act to effectively stop bullying through the legal system.
"The AG Office is conducting the work [drafting the Anti-Bullying Bill] with the inclusion of advice from technical experts," the President said.
The President noted that the introduction of this law would provide significant relief in resolving bullying issues, as it will clearly define acts of bullying and specify the jurisdictions in which the law will apply.
Furthermore, the President stated that the law will establish specific measures to prevent and address online bullying as well.
