Minister of Youth Empowerment, Information, and Arts, Abdulla Rafiu, met tonight with Maldivian athletes, coaches, and officials participating in the 6th Asian Beach Games currently held in Sanya, China.

The Maldives is competing in four sports at the Sanya Games: beach athletics, beach handball, beach volleyball, and open water swimming.

Minister Rafiu met with the Maldivian contingent during a special event held tonight at the Athletes’ Village. Addressing the athletes and officials, the Minister highlighted the significance of Sanya and emphasized the importance of experiencing and learning about the culture and traditions of the host country during international sports competitions.

Furthermore, the Minister encouraged the athletes to show determination and continue their hard work for the nation. He praised the courage shown by the athletes thus far and noted his satisfaction with their results.

The ceremony was attended by the President of the Maldives Olympic Committee (MOC) Mohamed Abdul Sattar, Commissioner of Sports Mohamed Tholal, MOC Secretary General Thamooh Ahmed Saeed, and this year's Chef de Mission, Ahmed Aushan.

In his remarks, President Sattar also encouraged the athletes and commended the results they have achieved in the games so far.
