Deputy Speaker of the People’s Majlis and PNC member for Dhiggaru constituency, Ahmed Nazim, has been removed from the two most influential committees of the Parliament: the Public Accounts Committee and the Committee on National Security Services (241 Committee).

Nazim, who previously served as a member of both, was notably active as a chairperson for various sub-committees investigating major corruption and security-related issues.

His work included overseeing inquiries into:

The overturning of a landing craft in November last year that resulted in two deaths.Embezzlement cases involving Fenaka and Polco.The theft of a cigarette container from the MPL commercial harbor.Major drug trafficking cases into the Maldives.The official website of the People’s Majlis now lists Nazim under the "former members" section for these committees. He was also absent from today's Public Accounts Committee meeting.

According to the Parliament’s updated records, the People’s National Congress (PNC) has appointed the following members to replace him:
