The Criminal Court has sentenced a man to 16 years in prison for committing a sexual act with an 11-year-old girl.

The individual sentenced in this case is Mohamed Anil (47) of M. Muniyage, Malé.

He was prosecuted under the Protection of Children's Rights from Sexual Abusers Act, which provides special procedures and stringent penalties for such offenses.
