President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has established the Maldives National Territory & Sovereignty Office within the President’s Office to oversee matters related to the country’s territorial boundaries.

The office, first announced during the Presidential Address to the People’s Majlis on 5 February, is tasked with defining the Maldives’ territorial limits and conducting research to ensure sustainable management of national territory.

Its responsibilities include coordinating with government agencies and international parties to address boundary-related issues, determining official baseline coordinates, and producing boundary maps and related documentation.

Preparations are currently underway, with administrative work and recruitment in progress ahead of the office’s launch.
