The Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works was dissolved yesterday. Among the ten ministers who suddenly resigned from the 20-member cabinet yesterday was the Minister of Cities and Local Government, Adam Shareef.
When the cabinet was reconstituted last night and reduced to 15 members, the Ministry of Cities and Local Government was no longer included. Additionally, Minister Adam Shareef was not given a position in the new cabinet. Following the dissolution of the Ministry of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, all public works functions have now been transferred under the Ministry of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development.
The newly formed ministries and their appointed ministers are:
- Minister of Finance and Public Enterprises: Moosa Zameer
- Minister of Homeland Security, Labour and Technology: Ali Ihusaan
- Minister of Foreign Affairs: Iruuthisham Adam
- Minister of Health, Family and Welfare: Geela Ali
- Minister of Economic, Transport and Trade: Mohamed Saeed
- Minister of Islamic Affairs and Endowments: Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed
- Minister of Tourism and Civil Aviation: Mohamed Ameen
- Minister of Arts, Culture and Heritage: Heena Waleed
- Minister of Infrastructure, Urban and Housing Development: Dr. Abdulla Muttalib
- Minister of Climate Change, Environment and Energy: Ali Shareef
- Minister of Education, Higher Education and Skills Development: Dr. Ismail Shafeeu
- Minister of Youth Empowerment, Sports and Fitness: Abdulla Rafiu
While major changes have been brought to the cabinet, the heads of several state-owned enterprises have also been dismissed recently.
