Minister of Infrastructure, Housing and Urban Development Dr. Abdulla Muttalib has stated that the work on the Addu City Link Road will begin as soon as the relevant machinery can be transported to Addu City. The Minister said this while responding to a question from the MDP Member for Maradhoo constituency, Ahmed Didi, during today's sitting of the People's Majlis.

Questioning the Minister, the Member noted that the Minister had stated in Parliament in 2024 that the Addu Link Road project would be carried out with the highest priority because its current condition poses a threat to the lives and property of citizens; however, the work has not commenced to date. Therefore, the Member inquired on which date the physical work of the project would begin.

Responding to the Member's question, Muttalib said that the Link Road project is the most important work the government wishes to carry out in Addu City.

"The work has now been awarded to RDC (Road Development Corporation). The time spent was for RDC to procure the machinery and equipment. The machinery has arrived now, and as soon as those items are transported to Addu, the work will begin," the Minister said.
