The government has restructured the Transport Ministry, transferring its functions to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade.
At a ceremony held at the President’s Office on Wednesday night, Mohamed Saeed was appointed as the Minister of Economic Development, Transport and Trade, taking on the expanded responsibilities.
As part of the changes, the Civil Aviation sector has been separated from the former Transport Ministry, leading to the creation of a new Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation. Following this move, Tourism Minister Thoriq Ibrahim has resigned from his position.
