The government has merged the Social and Family Development Ministry with the Health Ministry, forming a new entity named the Ministry of Health, Family and Welfare.

During a ceremony held at the President’s Office, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appointed Geela Ali, the Maldives’ Ambassador to Belgium, as the new Minister of Health, Family and Welfare.

Following the restructuring, former Social and Family Development Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham and Health Minister Abdulla Nazim have both resigned from their positions.
