Minister of Local Government, Adam Shareef Umar has resigned from the post.

"One" has confirmed that Adam Shareef has resigned from his position as the Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works. However, the specific reason for his resignation has not been clarified.

President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu appointed Adam Shareef as the Minister of Local Government on the first day of this administration, November 17, 2023.

A total of 10 ministers, including Adam Shareef, have resigned today.

The outgoing ministers include Minister of Defence Ghassan Maumoon, Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel, Minister of Tourism and Environment Thoriq Ibrahim, Minister of Health Abdulla Nazim, Minister of Higher Education Dr. Ali Haidar, Minister of Dhivehi Language, Culture and Heritage Adam Nassir Ibrahim, Minister of Agriculture and Animal Welfare Maryam Mariya, Minister of Gender Dr. Aishath Shiham, and Minister of Youth Ibrahim Waheed.

While 10 ministers from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's cabinet resigned today, several heads of state-owned enterprises have also stepped down within this week.
