Hussain Fahmy has been appointed as the Managing Director of the Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).

The Privatization and Corporatization Board announced today that Hussain Fahmy has been appointed as the Managing Director and a board member of the Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), effective today.

Prior to this appointment, Fahmy served as the Principal Secretary to the President on Policy and Manifesto at the President's Office.

Fahmy, who has extensive experience working at STELCO, also served as the Managing Director of that company starting from November 2023, following President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu's assumption of office. He held that position for one and a half years before being removed in September of last year, after which he was appointed to his role at the President's Office.

Fahmy's appointment to MWSC follows the resignation of the previous Managing Director, Abdul Matheen Mohamed, last Sunday.

The current administration had originally appointed Matheen as the Managing Director of MWSC on November 28, 2023.
