The Managing Director of Male' Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC), Abdul Matheen Mohamed, has resigned from his position.
Matheen was appointed to the post of MWSC Managing Director by the current administration on November 28, 2023.
He announced his resignation from the post through a social media post today. However, he did not disclose the reason for his decision to step down.
Matheen’s resignation coincides with that of Farhath Shaheer, who also resigned today from his position as the Managing Director of the state-owned fisheries company, MIFCO.
These departures follow a recent trend of resignations and dismissals among senior executives of state-owned enterprises. Last week, the Managing Director of Maldives Ports Limited (MPL), Mohamed Rishwan, also tendered his resignation.
Furthermore, the government has recently dismissed several heads of companies, including Hussain Didi, the former Managing Director of AgroNet, and Mohamed Najah, the former Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation.
