Brigadier General (Retired) Farhath Shaheer, of Ma. Alhivilaa, has resigned from his position as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO).

Farhath was appointed to the post in March of last year.

A veteran of the Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF), Farhath retired with honor in 2012 after 30 years of service, during which he attained the rank of Vice Chief of Defence Force. Following his military retirement, he also served as the CEO of Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH) during the administration of former President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

Farhath is the third individual to hold the top leadership position at MIFCO since President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu assumed office. The first CEO and Managing Director appointed under this administration was Ahmed Shamaah Rasheed, who was later dismissed following allegations of corruption. Farhath's immediate predecessor was Dr. Vitaly Lyubimov, a Ukrainian national.
