Sri Lankan media outlets have reported that President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu is scheduled to undertake an official visit to Sri Lanka next month.

According to the Sri Lankan newspaper "Daily Mirror Online," President Muizzu’s visit will focus on strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and Sri Lanka, with a particular emphasis on discussions regarding the advancement of the fisheries industry.

The Daily Mirror reported that the Sri Lankan Fisheries Minister and the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to the Maldives have already held a meeting to discuss attracting new investments to the fisheries sector.

Citing the Sri Lankan Ministry of Fisheries, the Daily Mirror noted that during the meeting, the Minister highlighted the potential for integrating the Maldives' fresh fish resources with Sri Lanka's fish canning industry to introduce innovative new products.

Currently, several products labeled "Made in Sri Lanka" are imported into the Maldives via Dubai.
