The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced the temporary closure of Rasfannu Island due to ongoing renovation work.

In a gazette notice issued on Thursday night, the ministry said the area is closed to the public starting Thursday as construction activities are underway.

Officials stated that sections of the island will remain inaccessible while the project is in progress. The renovation follows reports that Rasfannu had suffered significant damage.

The redevelopment project has been awarded to the Maldives Transport and Contracting Company (MTCC). Authorities have not yet announced when the island will reopen to the public.
