The Ministry of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure has announced that individuals applying for housing under the disability category must submit a card issued by the National Social Protection Agency (NSPA) as proof of disability.

The ministry stated that the NSPA card must be uploaded along with applications submitted via the official housing portal. Applications for this category are open from November 24 to April 30.

According to the ministry, the eligibility criteria have been revised in line with the Protection of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities and Financial Assistance Act. Only individuals officially recognized as persons with disabilities under the law can apply.

Additional changes ensure that previous application deadlines do not apply to this group. Applicants must have lived in Malé City for at least one year, or for 15 continuous years if originally from another island.

The ministry also noted that applicants must have received treatment in the Greater Malé Area over the past year due to limited access to healthcare in their home islands and financial constraints.

These changes aim to ensure fair access to housing for people with disabilities.
