Six individuals have been taken into custody following the seizure of a significant quantity of illicit drugs.
The Maldives Police Service stated that the arrests were made during a specialized operation conducted in Malé. This initiative is part of the ongoing efforts by the police to protect the community from the dangers of narcotics and alcohol.
The individuals arrested in connection with this case are:
- Mohamed Mahir (36) of Honey Season, Dh. Meedhoo
- Ali Eeshad (32) of Sosun, S. Hulhudhoo
- Aahil Ali (23) of G. Kandhumaageaage, Malé
- Rikzu Adam (23) of Five Rose, GDh. Thinadhoo
- Mohamed Suhaan Ahmed (39) of Dunthari, Lh. Hinnavaru
- Abdul Maajid Ibrahim (38) of Matharesmaage, Mukurimagu, L. Gan
According to the police, the joint operation by Counter Narcotics Intelligence and Drug Enforcement was carried out on the first of this month. During the operation, officers searched two locations in Malé under court warrants, resulting in the discovery of a large amount of drugs.
Following their production in court for remand hearings, Ali Eeshad, Mohamed Mahir, Abdul Maajid Ibrahim, and Mohamed Suhaan Ahmed were remanded in custody for 15 days. Aahil Ali received a 12-day remand, while Rikzu Adam was ordered to be detained for five days.
