The mayors of the Maldives' major cities have successfully secured their re-election for a second term. These include Ismail Rafeeq, Mayor of Fuvahmulah City; Ali Nizar, Mayor of Addu City; Saud Ali, Mayor of Thinadhoo City; Adam Azim, Mayor of Malé City; and Mohamed Athif, Mayor of Kulhudhuffushi City.

All five incumbents, who were originally elected on the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) ticket, contested this council election under the same party banner.

According to the provisional election results, all five candidates have successfully retained their seats.

The preliminary figures indicate that MDP won these positions by significant margins in all cities except Thinadhoo.

In addition to securing the mayoral seats, the MDP has also attained a supermajority in these city councils.
