The foundation stone has been laid to mark the commencement of physical work on a new Sports Park in Hulhumalé Phase 1.

The Housing Development Corporation (HDC) stated that the park is being developed on the land adjacent to the 'Fiyavathi' shelter in Phase 1.

According to HDC, the development of this Sports Park is part of the government's ongoing initiatives to enhance the social well-being of Hulhumalé residents and increase access to sporting facilities.

Upon completion, the project will feature a futsal pitch, a volleyball court, a half-court for basketball, and a dedicated parking zone. HDC aims to complete the project by the end of April.

HDC further emphasized that the corporation prioritizes the establishment of sports facilities, recreational spaces, and dedicated children’s areas, focusing on the physical fitness and social well-being of the community living in Hulhumalé.
