Minister of Foreign Affairs Dr. Abdulla Khaleel has stated that discussions are underway with Sri Lanka to ensure the Maldives continues to receive essential food and medicine supplies without disruption.
Speaking at a press conference, the minister said a government delegation recently visited Sri Lanka as part of ongoing efforts to maintain supply chains. Talks are also being held with other countries to explore additional ways to transport essential goods.
He noted that the government is addressing challenges faced by the tourism sector due to the ongoing war and is reviewing state expenditure to reduce costs.
The minister added that authorities are closely monitoring the situation of Maldivians living in the Middle East, with daily updates being collected. Those in high-risk areas have been relocated to safer locations as a precaution.
