The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has announced a call for consultancy services to conduct technical assessments of the Sinamalé and Malé Hiyaa residential complexes.
According to the announcement published in the Government Gazette today, the Ministry is seeking qualified parties to provide consultancy for preparing detailed assessments for the repair and maintenance of these buildings, as well as for the formulation of relevant tender documentation.
The Ministry stated that eligibility is open to qualified Maldivian-registered companies and organizations. Interested parties must submit their proposals before 1:00 PM on the 31st of this month.
Applicants are required to submit their proposals in accordance with the guidelines and conditions outlined in the project’s information sheet and related documents. The Ministry emphasized that proposals should incorporate robust assessment methodologies, high-quality documentation standards, and effective technical solutions for the maintenance work.
This announcement follows a recent similar call by the Malé City Council to find parties for the maintenance of these housing units.
While these maintenance efforts are being organized, President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has previously revealed plans to eventually demolish the aging Sinamalé and Malé Hiyaa structures and replace them with new, modern residential buildings.
Furthermore, the President has also decided to provide special concessions and financial assistance to residents of these flats who, for various reasons, have been unable to settle their outstanding fines.
