Two police officers are set to be dismissed from their positions following their conviction for engaging in unlawful sexual relations.

A police media official informed "One" today that the Criminal Court delivered a verdict on the 3rd of this month, finding the two employees guilty of the offense.

"Following the court's judgment, the decision has been made to dismiss these two employees from the service. We are currently in the process of completing the necessary administrative procedures for their termination," the official stated.

The Maldives Police Service maintains a policy of taking disciplinary action against its personnel who violate national laws or Islamic principles.

In particular, the institution standardly pursues dismissal in instances where employees are proven in court to have participated in criminal activities.

The identities and ranks of the two officers involved have not been disclosed by the police. Furthermore, no additional details regarding the specifics of the case have been released.
