The Ministry of Housing, Land and Urban Development has opened applications for land plots, allowing individuals to apply even if their spouse already owns a housing unit or land.
The Ministry gazetted the relevant regulations on the 4th of this month.
The decision to allow individuals to apply for land plots regardless of their spouse's housing status was first announced by President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu in this year's Presidential Address.
According to the announcement for the "Goathi-Gedhoru" program gazetted today, the application window is open from today until April 30th.
The Ministry stated that under this policy, land plots measuring 1,250 square feet will be allocated from Ras Malé.
This scheme consists of two main categories: one specifically for Malé residents (registered in Malé) and another for residents of other islands who are currently living in Malé.
Applications for this scheme must be submitted through the "Hiyaavahi" portal.
