The Maldives has been named the Official Host Country for ITB Berlin 2027, one of the world’s leading travel trade shows.
The agreement was signed during ITB Berlin 2026 by Ibrahim Shiuree, CEO and Managing Director of Visit Maldives(MMPRC), and Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin.
As the host country, the Maldives will showcase its tourism offerings to the global travel industry, including luxury resorts, local island tourism, diving, water sports, wellness experiences and cultural attractions. Sustainability and marine conservation will also be highlighted as key parts of the country’s tourism strategy.
The government has also declared 2027 as “Visit Maldives Year,” an initiative announced by Mohamed Muizzu to promote the country’s tourism sector through global campaigns and international events.
As part of its role, the Maldives will host the official opening gala of ITB Berlin on March 15, 2027, followed by exhibitions, cultural performances and networking events from March 16 to 18. The event is expected to help strengthen tourism partnerships and promote the Maldives in the European market.
