The Maldives Police Service has arrested two Indian nationals suspected of smuggling drugs into the Maldives.

The suspects have been identified as Kathirivil Manimaran, 21, and Dhanushkandan Gopal, 19. The Criminal Courtremanded both men in custody for six days on Wednesday.

According to police, the two arrived in the Maldives under suspicion. Authorities later discovered bottles containing substances that tested positive for hashish oil.

Police said the seized drugs weighed approximately 6.7 kilograms. The suspects told the court that they wish to obtain legal representation.
