Economic Minister Mohamed Saeed has announced that testing is underway to introduce PayPal services in the Maldives.
Speaking at a press conference at the President’s Office, Minister Saeed said the launch of PayPal is a presidential pledge and part of the President’s manifesto. He assured that the service will be available soon.
The minister noted that a timeline for the launch will be shared shortly, explaining that the delay is due to ongoing testing processes. He added that a proposal had been submitted to bring PayPal to the Maldives by August 2024.
In October, Ooredoo Fintech and PayPal announced plans to introduce PayPal services in the country.
