The Elections Commission (EC) has extended the deadline for submitting applications to act as candidate representatives in the Local Council and Women's Development Committee (WDC) elections scheduled for the 4th of next month.

Initially, the EC had opened applications for candidate representatives with a deadline set for 1:00 PM this coming Saturday. However, in a subsequent announcement, the Commission stated that the deadline has now been extended until 1:00 PM next Tuesday.

Each candidate is entitled to appoint one representative to every polling station where their interests are involved, to observe the voting and counting processes.

Candidates must submit the application forms for their representatives through the Commission’s central portal at my.elections.gov.mv. Once the representative's information is entered into the portal, the person designated as the representative must sign the declaration through the portal using their verified eFaas account.

The EC emphasized that those acting as candidate representatives must adhere to the Candidates' Code of Conduct. The Commission also noted the importance of representatives participating in the information sessions conducted by the EC.

Voting for the 2026 Local Council and Women's Development Committee elections is scheduled to take place from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM on Saturday, the 4th of next month.
