The Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL) has requested passengers traveling to Middle Eastern countries to verify their flight status before proceeding to the airport.
Following military strikes initiated by the United States and Israel against Iran today, a large-scale conflict has emerged. In retaliation, Iran has targeted U.S. bases across the Middle East, leading to heightened tensions and the closure of airspace in several countries across the region.
While several flights departing from Velana International Airport (VIA) to Middle Eastern destinations have been canceled due to these developments, a significant number of passengers remain at the airport awaiting departure.
In a notice issued tonight, MACL advised that due to the temporary closure of airspace in various Middle Eastern countries, travelers should check for updates regarding their scheduled flights through airline websites or their respective tour operators before heading to the airport.
In addition to verifying flight information via official channels, MACL urged passengers to plan their travel arrangements well in advance.
MACL further recommended visiting https://www.fis.com.mv for the latest real-time information regarding flight operations at VIA.
