The Civil Court of Maldives has ordered the Auditor General's Office to submit and release an audit report concerning the business operations of Male' High Private Limited.
The case was filed after the Auditor General’s Office declined to release a report related to alleged damages to the company’s business. Male’ High Private Limited asked the court to compel the office to provide the document.
The charge form was delivered to the Auditor General’s Office on December 22. The Attorney General's Office sought an extension to file a defense but failed to submit one by the extended deadline of January 15. No further extension was requested.
Under the law, if a defendant does not present a defense, the plaintiff may request a verdict. On January 22, Male’ High Pvt Ltd asked the court to issue a ruling, citing the failure to respond.
The Civil Court has now ordered the Auditor General’s Office to release the audit report to the company within seven days.
