Minister of Cities, Local Government, and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, has emphasized the importance of electing local councils that will work in harmony with the vision of President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu.

Speaking at a ceremony held tonight to inaugurate the PNC's Maafannu campaign center, Adam Shareef stated that the government accords high priority to maintaining the cleanliness of Malé City and resolving the various challenges facing the capital.

"It is vital to have local councils that are prepared to collaborate with the President to carry out tasks in line with his developmental vision for the Maldives. Why is this so important? Because the President has announced several key basic initiatives designed to provide ease and convenience to the citizens. To implement and carry these projects forward, it is essential to have capable and steadfast individuals in the councils," the Minister remarked.

Adam Shareef further noted that the government has brought positive changes to the Malé harbor area within a short duration. However, he stressed that maintaining the aesthetic appeal and cleanliness of the area, as well as organizing vehicle parking, can only be achieved if the council fulfills its responsibilities effectively.

Consequently, he asserted that the members elected to the Malé City Council must be individuals who subscribe to and support the government’s overall vision.
