President Dr Mohamed Muizzu has inaugurated Masjid Yoosuf Al Barbaree (Barbaree Mosque), officially opening the mosque in conjunction with the Asr prayer.
The newly constructed mosque was developed by a private contractor and built as a modern three-storey structure with a capacity to accommodate 1,400 worshippers.
The President was accompanied by Minister of Islamic Affairs Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, senior Government officials, and members of the public. Following the inauguration ceremony, the President toured the mosque.
Construction and development of mosques across the Malé region are continuing under grant aid as part of the Government’s broader efforts to expand prayer facilities nationwide. Several mosques are scheduled to open this year, with a number of newly built mosques on various islands already inaugurated ahead of Ramadan.
