The first day of Ramadan has been declared as Wednesday, 18 February 2026.

The announcement was made during a ceremony held Tuesday night at the Islamic Centre.

According to a decree signed by Islamic Minister Dr. Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, credible astronomical data confirmed that the Ramadan crescent moon would be visible in the Maldives and several other Islamic countries after sunset on 29 Sha’ban 1447 Hijri, corresponding to 17 February 2026.
