A new stock of MVR 20 banknotes has been brought to the Maldives following a shortage in the supply of the note from the "Ran Dhihafaheh" series currently in circulation.
In a statement issued today, the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA) explained that this measure was taken to ensure the continuous circulation of currency in the market.
The MMA also brought in a new shipment of MVR 100 banknotes earlier this month. On that occasion as well, the notes were imported due to a depletion of the MVR 100 stock.
