Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has been awarded two major water and sewerage projects in Kaafu Atoll’s Maafushi.

The agreements were signed by Minister of Construction, Housing and Infrastructure Dr. Abdulla Muththalib and MWSC Managing Director Abdul Matheen Mohamed. Both projects are scheduled to be completed within 571 days, with a combined value of MVR 186 million.

The first project involves upgrading the existing sewerage system in Maafushi at a cost of MVR 57.4 million. The work includes improvements to the sewerage network, installation of pumping stations, junctions and an outfall.

The second project, valued at MVR 128.6 million, will establish a water and sewerage system in the island’s reclaimed area. The project includes installation of water and sewerage pipelines, pumping stations, junctions and outfalls, along with two RO plants capable of producing 1,500 tonnes of water per day, 102 water storage tanks with a capacity of 3,500 tonnes per day, and water meters.
