The distribution of canned tuna cases, provided by the government as a Ramadan gift, has been completed in the Greater Male' Area.
In line with President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu’s pledge, the distribution of tuna cases to every household for this Ramadan began in Male' on the 24th of last month. Dispatching the gift cases to the atolls commenced on the 26th of last month.
Minister of Cities, Local Government and Public Works, Adam Shareef Umar, stated in a social media post that the distribution of the Ramadan gift to every household in the Greater Male' Area, as promised by the President, was concluded by last night.
The Minister further noted that for those who have not yet collected their gift for any reason, arrangements have been made to collect it from the MIFCO center in Male' between 8:30 PM and 11:00 PM until the first day of Ramadan. He also expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in the distribution process.
Speaking on a PSM program, State Minister for Local Government Yusuf Abdul Gafoor stated that as of Tuesday night, tuna cases had been distributed to 43,923 households in the Male' area.
According to the household list compiled for this year's distribution, the total number of households across islands and cities is 56,918, with 61,755 domestic electricity meters recorded.
A total of 118,673 canned tuna cases are set to be distributed as Ramadan gifts this year. In the atolls, the distribution process is being managed by the respective local councils.
