More than 300,000 tourists have visited the Maldives so far this year.
According to statistics released by the Ministry of Tourism, a total of 303,488 tourists arrived in the country by the 9th of this month. This represents a 5.1 percent growth compared to the 288,798 arrivals recorded during the same period last year.
The data indicates that China remains the top source market for Maldivian tourism this year, with 39,132 arrivals from the country.
Other leading source markets include:
- Russia: 36,565 tourists
- Italy: 30,656 tourists
- United Kingdom: 27,864 tourists
- Germany: 18,630 tourists
Current statistics show that the Maldives is hosting an average of more than 8,000 tourist arrivals per day.
The government has set an ambitious target of attracting 2.5 million tourists to the country this year.
