A young man has been arrested after an attempt to smuggle drugs via air.

Maldives Police Service said that 21-year-old Maldivian man who arrived in the country on Indian Airlines at 11:35 a.m. was taken into the custody of the Maldives Customs Service while trying to smuggle drugs into the country.

After being taken into the custody, the man was transferred into the custody of the Maldives Police Service.

Police said that the Drug Enforcement Department are investigating the smuggling.
