President Dr Mohamed Muizzu attended the Maldives–Germany Business Roundtable in Berlin as part of his official visit to Germany, engaging with German business leaders and investors.

Speaking at the event, the President outlined the Maldives’ Vision 2040, focusing on economic strengthening, institutional modernisation, digitalisation of public services, and environmental protection. He noted improvements in foreign exchange circulation, record-high official reserves, progress in reducing the budget deficit, and growing investor confidence, highlighting investments by major technology companies such as Google.

President Dr Muizzu emphasised opportunities in energy transition, tourism, healthcare, and financial services, describing the Maldives as a testing ground for scalable and sustainable solutions. He invited German investors to take part in Visit Maldives Year 2027 and explore projects such as the sustainable township initiative, Project Ayla.

He also highlighted Germany’s long-standing contribution to the Maldives’ tourism sector and described Germany as a key partner in the country’s development.

The roundtable concluded with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between Visit Maldives and DERTOUR Deutschland GmbH to cooperate on destination promotion and marketing.
