The nomination of Riffath Abdulla (Kinara, M. Maavashu) for membership of the Elections Commission (EC) has been submitted to the People's Majlis.

During today's parliamentary session, the Secretary-General of the Majlis, Fathimath Niusha, read a letter from President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu seeking parliamentary approval for Riffath's appointment to the EC.

Following the reading of the letter, the Speaker of the Majlis, Abdul Raheem Abdulla, announced that the matter has been forwarded to the Committee on Independent Institutions for further review.

The Parliament will vote on whether to grant consent for Riffath's appointment once the Committee on Independent Institutions has interviewed the nominee, completed its evaluation, and submitted its formal report to the floor.
