Approximately 70 percent of the land reclamation project in Ha. Dhidhdhoo has been completed.

The contractor for this project, Maldives Airports Company Limited (MACL), is carrying out the work using the "Leiv Eiriksson," a Trailing Suction Hopper Dredger with a capacity of 46,000 CBM. According to MACL, this is a modern and highly capable vessel typically utilized for large-scale reclamation projects.

MACL stated today that 78 hectares of land have been reclaimed from the Dhidhdhoo lagoon so far, marking the completion of 70 percent of the total project.

The newly reclaimed land in Dhidhdhoo is designated for several key developmental purposes essential to the island. This includes the development of an airport, housing projects, and the establishment of various other basic social services.

The Dhidhdhoo land reclamation project was officially awarded to MACL on the 5th of last month.
