President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that special health insurance services will be provided to Maldivian athletes.

In a post on X shared on Tuesday night, the President said that 385 athletes and officials from 18 national sports associations will now be eligible for health insurance coverage.

He noted that the insurance will provide relief for injuries sustained during training and competitions, both in the Maldives and at international events. The President added that this initiative fulfills a long-standing demand of the Maldivian sports community.
