President Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has announced that he will begin holding regular meetings with the press every Monday starting in March.

Speaking in his presidential address, the President said the move is aimed at strengthening relations between the administration and the media. He stated that the weekly press meetings will take place from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., unless there are changes to the schedule.

The President also said that all cabinet ministers will meet with the press for one hour each week.

Highlighting support for the media, President Dr Muizzu noted that, for the first time in Maldives’ history, funds have been allocated from the state budget for the media sector. He added that the Media Village will be opened by mid-year, providing affordable office and studio spaces to help ease financial challenges faced by media organizations.
