Deputy Speaker of Parliament Ahmed Nazim has departed for Pakistan to attend meetings of the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA).

According to the Parliament Secretariat, Nazim is participating in the 7th CPA Asia Regional Conference and the 2nd Regional Conference of CPA Asia and South East Asia.

During the visit, the chairmanship of the CPA Asia Region, covering the 68th to the 71st Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference, will be formally handed over to the People’s Majlis.

The theme of this year’s conference is “Future Parliaments: Reshaping Democracy through Trust, Inclusion, New Innovation and Peace.”

Ahmed Nazim is accompanied by Thimarafushi MP Ahmed Riyaz and Senior Foreign Relations Officer at the Parliament Secretariat, Aishath Eman.
