Maldives Zakat House has introduced the Fitr Portal, a new system that enables real-time monitoring of Zakat al-Fitr cash collections. The portal allows daily tracking of funds collected through both online payment platforms and physical cash transactions.

The system has been designed to facilitate cash payments of Zakat al-Fitr, particularly for individuals who are not accustomed to using online payment methods. Through the portal, local councils and Maldives Zakat House can efficiently record, consolidate, and manage cash collections across the country.

According to Maldives Zakat House, access to consolidated, real-time data will support the timely and equitable distribution of Zakat al-Fitr to eligible beneficiaries across the islands at the end of Ramadan, in line with Shari’ah requirements. The initiative is also expected to improve transparency and accountability in the collection process.

Zakat administration in the Maldives has seen significant reforms in recent years following the establishment of Maldives Zakat House and the enactment of a new Zakat Act, aimed at strengthening oversight, enhancing public confidence, and ensuring effective distribution of Zakat funds under Islamic law.
