Maldives Customs Service has seized a number of party drugs smuggled via post with stamps from two European countries and a South Asian country.

Today, the Customs Service said that 37 grams of cannabis were found on 13 June from a package sent from Turkey and 61 grams of Methylenedioxymethamphetamine; commonly known as MDMA or Ecstacy, crystals were found on 19 June from a package sent from the UK.

And on the same day, a second parcel from the UK had 32 grams of MDMA and a package from Sri Lanka came in with had two grams (five tablets) of MDMA.

Customs said that these were four attempts to smuggle drugs into the Maldives via post. And said that the drugs were seized during the inspection of the post.

The drugs has total weight of 132 grams according to Customs and have been passed on to the custody of the Maldives Police Service to investigate.
